Steev Letts

Steev is a mildly thuggish but extremely lovable gay oaf. He finds inspiration in the many gross rituals that unite us all, and aims to make you laugh at that which makes you cringe. Steev’s style is loud, sweaty, self-deprecating and oddly sweet. Watching Steev perform is like seeing a caged bear try to befriend its own reflection – equal parts cute and sad with lots of confused grunting and moaning.

Steev won the Vancouver’s Funniest Amateur Comic contest in 2016, won the 2018 Vancouver Yuk Off, won Breakout Artist of the Year at the 2019 Vancouver Comedy Awards and has performed on showcases for Just For Laughs, JFL Northwest and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

Yumi Nagashima
Aug
10
8:00 PM20:00

Yumi Nagashima

Yumi Nagashima is a Japanese comedian, now based in Vancouver. In less than three years, Yumi has taken comedy audiences by storm, not just in North America, but worldwide.

Yumi is a mainstay on the Vancouver comedy scene, but you may have additionally heard her on the CBC radio program, ‘The Debaters’, seen her on CBC TV at the 2019

Winnipeg Comedy Festival, or seen her perform at JFL Northwest in Vancouver. Or you may have downloaded or streamed her debut album "My Name is Yumi". released in 2019 on 604 Records' comedy imprint Comedy Here Often. Or you may be one of the millions and millions of views that her YouTube clips have racked up. Her comedy is sophisticated, audacious and unpredictably brilliant. She effortlessly covers a broad range of topics from gender politics, to cultural politics, to racism, all with a super fresh yet hard to define perspective.

Yumi’s star just keeps on rising. In 2019 she will appear at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, as a part of the New Faces Showcase, she will attend the Jakarta Int'l Comedy Fest in August of 2019 as a headliner, and will be performing in a Comedy Central special to be filmed in Singapore in October 2019. A year of many accomplishments for Yumi also include Hollywood Talent Agency APA signing her for representation in comedy and acting and Simkin Artist Management signing her for personal management.

As well as live performances, Yumi is a rising star on YouTube, with some of her videos reaching over 2 million views. She debuted her own web series this Summer, "Japanese Goddess Room", which can be found on her YouTube channel. In addition, Yumi is an accomplished actress and has many acting credits to her name, including HBO’s, "The Man in the High Castle.”

FEATURE: Roy Haber

Whether it’s making fun of his height (5’2), tackling personal issues, slamming an analytical magnifying glass on world events and society in general, or sharing a story from his travels – Roy’s comedy is live, direct, and playfully honest.

Fan’s rave of his wit, and all who have seen him appreciate his will to speak his mind. Though he often leads his audience to the very edge, he shows great tact in realizing where it is and attempts to tread past the threshold only when necessary and never for the cheap, yet often sought-after “shock value” laugh. His set material focuses on self-deprecation, hypocrisy in politics (is that redundant?), double standards in culture, and his ability for story telling of topics that all audience members can enjoy. Not only will Roy’s show have you doubled over with laughter, but it will also undoubtedly move you to thought and reason. No, really…

Roy has performed throughout the USA, Canada, and for the United States troops, both abroad and on U.S. soil. He’s shared the stage with the likes of Jim Breuer, Tommy Davidson, Don Rickles, Kevin Nealon, Iliza Shlesinger, Tom Arnold, Tim Wilson, Tom Green, and many more. He was also a semi finalist in the prestigious International San Francisco Comedy Competition (past competitors include: Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Sinbad and Dana Carvey, to name a few). He was also recently a participant in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) Comedy Festival. So, come on out to the show, warm up your face muscles, and prepare your tear ducts for an evening of hilarity. You’ll be sure to have BIG fun with this little dude!

MC: Devon Gollinge

Devon Gollinge first began his comedy career in his hometown of Myrtle Beach, SC in 2010. He gained valuable experience working for a year as the house emcee in a local club. In 2012, Devon moved to Atlanta to take advantage of the growing comedy scene, in which he has become a favorite among both his peers and audience members.

In 2014, Devon performed in the Accidental Comedy Festival in Cleveland and the Scruffy City Comedy Festival in Knoxville, TN. 2017 found Devon at the first annual Cola Comedy Con in South Carolina, and 2018 he was a performer in the 9th annual Cape Fear Comedy Festival. He also performs at various clubs throughout the country. Likable and quick-witted, much of Devon’s comedy explores what it’s like growing up as a self-proclaimed nerdy introvert who never quite fit in. Fortunately, college was where our lonely little caterpillar broke out of his cocoon and developed a personality. Whether looking back on his video game addiction or detailing his sexual misadventures, Devon has been described as “smart storyteller.” Simply put, Devon is hilarious, and you’re missing out if you haven’t seen his show.

Levi McCachen
Aug
3
8:00 PM20:00

Levi McCachen

One of the fastest rising comics in Vancouver, Levi McCachen has been tearing up stages everywhere he goes. He was the winner of the CFOX comedy competition and a top finalist in the 2016 Vancouver Yuk Off. He's a regular at The Comedy Mix, where he routinely opens for International stars and has performed at the Pemberton Music Festival. He has also been featured in the XM Top Comic Competition. From the difficulties of dating, to generational differences, Levi's unique and refreshing point of view always leaves audience guessing and laughing.

Feature: Yashar Kafi

With his dry, deadpan delivery, Iranian born comedian Yashar Kafi examines American culture with sarcasm and irony, translating stereotypes into punchlines and bringing audiences to their knees. Yashar's cantankerous personae bears a close

resemblance to an Iranian Craig Ferguson meets DeNiro in Taxi Driver.  Just 2 years after beginning standup, Yashar advanced to the semi-finals in KTLA's Find Me a Comic competition, beating out hundreds of seasoned competitors.  In 2016, Yashar placed 2nd in LA's Funniest Comic contest in the Headliner category.  A man of many talents, Yashar has starred in over 100 student films and is a Black Belt in karate.  You can find Yashar sharing his love of Chuck Norris on his Instagram page or on the streets of Pasadena, feeding local stray cats.

MC: Sam Tonning

Sam is a silly man. He has silly thoughts and says silly things. These things have been known to make people laugh and feel better than him. He tells dirty jokes. That's the way it is.

He loves long walks on the beach and Phil Collins, and for some reason his high school gym teacher and Whitesnake.

Sam produces Wall to Wall Comedy, the Dirty Jokes show, is the sidekick on The Brett Martin Show and performs wherever someone will let him.

Sam can be heard on CFRO 100.5 Vancouver Coop Radio as the support act for Guy MacPherson on What’s So Funny? (long, long running comedy interview radio show - it's awesome). This is also a podcast. Sam’s on a podcast.

Chris Griffin

Chris Griffin is one of comedy’s most dynamic storytellers. After winning his regional round of the Great Canadian Laugh Off during his first year of comedy, Chris did something crazy. He quit his full time job, sold his house and hit stages across North America doing what he loves best – drinking and making people laugh. It was a gamble that has paid off. His move to Vancouver has brought a ton of success for Griffin, including winning 1st place in Vancouver’s Yuk Yuk’s Competition, being one of the only Canadian comics to ever make the finals of the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition, performing every year at the Just For Laughs Northwest Festival and sharing the stage with notable comics such as Norm Macdonald, Doug Stanhope, Tom Papa, Ari Shaffir and Bert Kreischer. 2018 is already off to a great start as Griffin was nominated three times and took home one award in the inaugural Vancouver Comedy Awards. Griffin is recording his second full length comedy special Live at the Biltmore in Vancouver on October 18th over two shows.

Kyle Jones

Kyle Jones holds no punches when he hits the stage. He has quickly carved out a reputation as one of Canada's hardest hitting comics. He got his start on the airwaves every morning as a radio personality at a rock station in Vancouver as well as juggled an acting career which took him back and forth between L.A and Vancouver. Kyle's witty and Edgy style leaves nothing untouched. When it comes to sex, relationships (failed) and everything else you're afraid to tell your friends Kyle exposes. His style of honesty with a punchline gained him a spot as a finalist in 2011 Canada's Next Top Comic. And this is only the beginning.

GAYlarious Comedy Show (Presented by New West Pride)

GAYlarious Comedy Show (Presented by New West Pride)

We're back! We love to laugh, and we think you probably like to as well. Join us on July 3rd for an evening of laughter, fun, excitement and friends as we raise money for New West Pride Society!

The evenings lineup will leave you with your cheeks hurting and tears of laughter. The evening will be hosted once again by the amazingly talented and funny (trust us, she will crack you up) Jennifer Robertson. Jennifer is a Vancouver born and raised actress and writer who you may just recognize from CBC's Schitt's Creek!

What is that? You want Drag? We got you! Dust and Channing Titanium, 2 of the Lower Mainland's most comedic drag performers will take the stage.

Erin Jeffery is a relapsed actor and professional communicator. She has been lucky enough to perform all around the Lower Mainland in film, television and stage over the past two decades. Lately she's been performing stand up comedy because its simultaneously terrifying and invigorating. Kind of like sky diving. But with less chance of death. She recently appeared in Singin in the Rain with Royal City Musical Theatre and was named in the Top Ten in the CBC Next Up Comedy Competition in 2019. She has performed at Lafflines, Yuk Yuks, assorted casinos and dive bars and is thrilled to be back for the second year of GAYlarious!

Steev Letts is a big sweaty gay oaf. He finds inspiration in the many gross rituals that unite us all, and aims to make you laugh at that which makes you cringe. Steev won the 2018 Vancouver Yuk Off, won Breakout Artist of the Year at the 2019 Vancouver Comedy Awards and has performed at JFL Northwest and the Grindstone Comedy Festival.

Yumi Nagashima is a Vancouver based comedian. A mainstay on the Vancouver comedy scene, and racking up millions of views on Youtube, she has had international cult success. She has been featured as a part of Just For Laughs North West, CBC’s Debaters, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival and was a finalist in the 2016 & 2017 Yuk Off Competition. Yumi grew up in Tokyo before moving to Vancouver, Canada, starting in acting in 2015 and making a splash in the Vancouver comedy scene with her debut in 2016. My Name is Yumi (2019) is Yumi Nagshima's first release with 604 Records' Comedy insert Comedy Here Often? The record is a highly personal and hilarious insight into her experience as a second generation Japanese-Canadian. Through a veil of humour and pop culture references, Yumi tackles the taboo, overcoming stereotypes through crowd work and racy humour. You name it, she talks about it: sex, white privilege, being a woman and racism.

Janice Bannister, is an International Headliner who hails from New Westminster via the West Kootenays. She is a two time winner of BC's Funniest Female, and has been featured on CBC, CTV and the Women's Network. She has toured with the "I am Woman Hear Me Laff" (2014 & 2018), and the HA Ha Sisterhood. She is the "comedy Momma" to over 732 comedy students that she has worked with in her Laughter Zone 101 stand-up comedy classes. You are guaranteed a fantastic night of laughter.

Doors at 6:00 pm, Show 6:30 sharp

This is a 19+ event.
