Extensive renovations have been underway for several months on the historic building which was built by Famous Players as the Columbia Theatre in 1927.
The City of New Westminster has officially designated the site as a heritage property, and care is being taken to preserve, restore, and in some cases reconstruct the original designs. As building technology and construction codes have changed over the years, considerable upgrades have been required in many areas.
